Cystoscopy
The passage of a small telescope (rigid or flexible) through the urethra into the bladder.
Preparation:
Nothing to eat or drink for 1 hour before the test.
Take antibiotic the morning or the test, if instructed by your physician.
Prostate Biopsy
A small needle on a spring a spring device, placed above ultrasound probe, is used to take prostate biopsies.
Preparation:
Take antibiotic the morning of the biopsy.
Nothing to eat or drink for three hours before the test.
No aspirin, Motrin, Advil, or other blood thinner for seven days before the biopsy.
Plan on going home immediately after biopsy and staying home all day.
Prostate Ultrasound
A probe (size of an exam finger) is inserted into the rectum to take pictures of the prostate, seminal vesicles and bladder.
Preparation:
Nothing to eat or drink for three hours before test.
A vasectomy is male sterilization performed through incisions in the scrotum.
